Tampakan LGU hands P1.5-M aid to people’s groups

At least six people’s organizations (POs) in nearby Tampakan town received yesterda a total of P1.5 million from their local government unit.

In a turn-over ceremony at the municipal hall’s conference, Tampakan Mayor Leonardo V. Escobillo handed checks amounting to P250,000 each to POs as assistance for their respective livelihood projects.

Earlier, municipal agriculturist Imelda Pascual invited presidents of Albagan Farmer’s Association (AFA), Sitio Salway Farmers’ Association (SISAFA), Sitio Maticura Farmers’ Association (MAFARAS), Snip Community Development Association (SCOMDEVAS), Pulabato Integrated Farmers’ Association (PIFA), and Rural Women Action Group of Kipalbig (RWAGKA) to receive the assistance.

During the turn-over ceremonies, Pascual urged the POs to properly manage their respective livelihood projects according to the policies and guidelines of associations.

Mayor Escobillo, on the other hand, called on the officials and members of the POs to earn more from the livelihood assistance and to show dedication by producing quality goods that could result in the improvement of the lives of their member.

He assured them that the municipal government of Tampakan is committed to achieving food production efficiency to solve the problem of unemployment and hunger.

Pascual explained the P250,000 aid to each of the six POs comprised the second tranche of the livelihood assistance under the Mindanao Rural Development Program – Community Fund for Agricultural Development (MRDP-CFAD).

The amount is intended for the vegetable production projects of AFA and SISAFA, cattle production projects of MAFARAS and SCOMDEVAS, Lakatan banana production project of PIFA, and macapuno and ube processing project of RWAGKA.

The turn-over ceremony was also witnessed by the municipal project facilitators and the officials of the municipality’s treasury office. (DEDoguiles/PIA 12)
